Being a Which? member, I came across the article below re Maxi-Cosi baby car seats (some Chicco seats are also affected):

"Maxi-Cosi baby car seat safety recall

Buckle safety issue hits Citi SPS car seat

16 July 2013

Owners of the Maxi-Cosi Citi SPS child car seat bought at Argos are being urged to contact the manufacturer Dorel, to obtain a replacement buckle.

Maxi-Cosi is the second manufacturer to issue a car seat product recall after Sabelt, the company that manufactures its buckles, noticed a potential safety issue.

Chicco has also recalled some of its Autofix and Synthesis child car seats.

What to do if you own the Maxi-Cosi Citi SPS

Dorel says that there's the potential risk for the Citi SPS buckle to release in a crash.

Which? child car seat researcher Victoria Pearson says: 'If you own a Maxi-Cosi Citi SPS baby car seat, Argos catalogue number 376/6365, check the orange and white label underneath for the details of when the seat was produced. The label gives the week the seat was produced followed by the year - the affected models were produced between week 22/2012 and 22/2013.'

Dorel is advising customers to stop using the car seat immediately if it's one of the affected models and request a free replacement buckle. You can contact Dorel customer services at customercare@dorel.eu or by phoning their customer care centre on 01284 413 141.

Chicco child car seats also affected

Chicco is asking owners of the Chicco Auto-Fix and Chicco Synthesis car seats to visit the Chicco website, to check if their model is affected and to get instructions on how to use the product safely.

You'll need to check the type of buckle, 'ECE type approval number' and serial number of your car seat to find out if it is one of the affected models. Again, this information can be found on the orange and white label underneath the car seat.

The Chicco Synthesis infant carrier is commonly sold as part of the Trio Enjoy Travel system package, which is sold by retailers including Argos, Bambino Direct, BHS direct, Boots, Debenhams Plus and Kiddicare.

The Chicco Autofix infant carrier is sold as a stand alone child car seat which can be used with or without the Autofix Fast car seat base."
