Advice For Getting A Deal New Yaris Hybrid

Hi

Found this forum while researching the yaris hybrid. I had an extended test drive today and I've decided to go for it. I visited vantage toyota tamworth as that's where I live. I want a t spirit hybrid and the sales guy said he can get one next week in pearl white he wouldn't offer any discount at all on price but added mats, full tank of fuel and 2 years servicing if I order by midday tomorrow. I'm taking it out on the 0% finance and I'm part ex my corsa for £2500. Is it worth pushing for more of a discount or even trying other toyota dealers? Or is it generally the case that they won't give any discount on the price?

Having recently taken delivery of a TR Multidrive Auto I can tell you there is an easy 10% discount available across the whole Yaris range including the hybrid, my particular deal was 11.5% off list, mats, and a spare wheel (Toyota have switched to an inflation kit on Yaris now) plus the 0% finance and free 1 years insurance from Toyota. I also got a very fair PX on our Aygo mmt. If your local dealer won't budge, (and some wont as they want to make a decent profit on each car rather than going for a volume target for example) then you need to shop around.

Thanks for your advice. Think I might phone round a few more dealers and see what I can get! Any other advice more then welcome.

I found that Toyota World Birmingham (one of the dealerships bought by Vantage) very reluctant to consider discounts at all. Plus two disappointing test drive experiences (the last one where they took me out in a customers new car that was due to collected in a couple of days, rather than using a proper demonstrator), made me try Inchcape Toyota Burton. Bought my last three new cars from there - 2006 Corolla, 2009 Auris, 2012 Auris.

Rather than ringing around dealerships re discounts, you'll probably get a better response by visiting, where they can see you're genuinely interested.

Thanks for your replys both. I went to Nuneaton in the end, they have a silver one on site which I've brought. I got £1k discount plus full tank, mats, 2 yrs servicing plus the 1 year free insurance and 0% finance.

Tamworth then rang me back saying they could do me a pure white t spirit for basically cost price just to get the sale to hit there targets but obviously I wouldn't get any extras, a very good deal but not the car colour we wanted would have to wait to long to get it but just shows there is potential for massive savings if your lucky.

So basically were paying a bit more £1300 more actually over 3 years but we've got the car we wanted with a few extras thrown in. Pick it up on Thursday can't wait :)

Congrats on your purchase and the extra 1k saved!, we test drove the hybrid as well and liked it. The cvt 1.33 won the day for us in the end but it was swings and roundabouts and I would have been happy with either car.

Well worth shopping around.

Think the after sales service at the Birmingham/Tamworth dealerships is quite good, but from my experiences the sales operation is actually quite poor.

I know its a bit late, to help Wayne the OP., but it could help others.

I have reserved a delivery millage Reg registered Yaris Hybrid T4, and im part exchanging my Citroen C3 Picasso.

I had a test drive in a T Spirit last year and realy liked the car.

I have been looking for realistically price demonstrator. But they had all been price to high for me.

Last week i looked at www.autotrader.co.uk and noticed a number of 13 reg Yaris T4's for sale with delivery millage mainly in the south of England for approx £13,000 but on phoning around not in a colour I wanted.

A few days latter looked at used cars on Toyota Uk site. selecting millage low to high in the menu. A number of good prices on pre reg cars.

I should pick my car up next week a Yaris Hybrid T4 in Burning Red. 13 Reg Zero milles on clock. And a realistic price for my Citroen.

A saving of abot £3500 compared to a local dealer.

Shop around, use the internet to your advantage

Agree with looking around and picking up a bargain but you are comparing apples with oranges

Cars are never registered for fun, they are registered to hit targets, and the moment a car is registered it starts to lose money handsomely. The dealer registers the car and gets a bonus off the manufacturer, some of that bonus money is used to reduce the forecourt price, as every day the car loses money through depreciation. That's why you get a better deal on pre reg / demo / delivery mileage only cars, you cannot compare them to a brand new out of the showroom deal. It is a great way to buy a brand new car granted, but the choice will be much more limited in terms of spec and colour

I've noticed a recent revision to our car insurance policies (LV) as regards the new car replacement clause - where either the cost of repairing damage is more than 50% of the car's list price or where the car is stolen and not recovered, the insurance company will replace the car with a new one of the same make, model, etc.
This clause now requires the owner to be 'the first and only registered owner, within 12 months of buying the car from new'.
Previously the clause was not so specific, and cars like pre-registered vehicles, etc would have been covered under the new car replacement clause.


Cannot imagine LV is the only insurer to have made this clause more specific, and, in my view, for buyers of pre-registered cars, makes the purchase of GAP insurance a more worthwhile consideration.

Only comparing one Yaris Hybrid with another.

I would of course prefer to be the first owner of a car, but for example if I wanted a T Spirit and could buy a pre reg car with delivery miles for 14k or pay over 18k for a new car. I could not justify the extra £4 outlay. As the brand new car will also depreciate just as much if not more as soon as As I drove it out of the showroom.

Im also comparing a secondhand car which was only registered a few weeks ago. With the s 10ame spec 1 year old car with 10k miles which I could pay mor for if i wished to.

The point about not being the first owner and not getting a new car replacement in the event of an accident are well made.

I will take the risk.

I went to my local Toyota dealer on Friday to look at a Yaris. He showed me the Hybrid and took me for a test drive. I fell in love with it. I've asked if I can have an extended test drive so they are arranging for me to have a courtesy car for a day. That'll let me try it on normal day to day journeys. I'm retiring next week and want to start retirement with a new car as it'll be being kept longer than I used to keep cars.

Then the fun begins negotiating. I'm pleased to see users suggesting 10% off list price as acceptable discount. I'll be PX a 2011 Fiesta, but wasn't impressed with the price they gave me on Friday. I'll have to put my negotiating hat on. It usually works but this one has a bit further to go.

I've spent the weekend researching as much as I can, as I knew nothing about hybrids before Friday.

Yes agreed, but you are comparing a brand new one to a used one, albeit a demo or delivery mileage only car. The prices for both of those varients will be vastly different

ANY dealer giving 10% off is giving his margin away and will be doing the deal for any bonus available
