Celica 140

Hi guys, new to the forum! :-)

Will be picking up my first Celica on Friday, what do you guys think of it? I think it looks great!

I am paying £1550 for it, VVTI 140 52 plate, 144,000 miles, full service history & 1 previous owner!

9 Months MOT - 6 Months Tax

Is the mileage a concern? Or is it OK considering only 1 owner from new and full service history?

Also am I right in thinking this the facelift version? Apparently the pre facelift has the Toyota Badge on the grill, with the facelift having the Badge directly on the bonnet?

Attached photo below

Cheers

Hi, Karl and welcome to T.O.C.

Unless someone has swopped the bumper, yours is indeed the face lift model. Keep an eye on the oil level for next few weeks just in case it's using some. Mileage isn't a concern on Gen 7's, but good quality 5W30 is important to keep the engine happy.

Thanks for reply :-) Will be sure to check oil regularly!

Any idea how I go about removing the cat? Is there a straight through pipe I can get to replace it?

Thank you!

Wouldn't you rather fit a Sports Cat, so you don't have to keep swopping them over come M.O.T. time?.

All the best of luck Karl,I have had my 140 from new in 2001 and other than the brake cylinder failing in the Alps a few years back I havn't put a spanner on it.

I only use mine for Continental holidays a couple of times a year, the rest it sits in the garage.

yours looks good in the pic.

Lyn.

If the reason for you wanting to decat is to get more power, forget it. The 140 & 190 as stock are tuned as best as they can by Toyota.

If you fitted a full custom exhaust system, induction kit/performace panel filter and all that, the most you would see is about 3BHP. The only way to get good power increases on a 140 or 190 is to go force induction. To do that and do it right, you are looking at spend about £6k+.

Hi :)

The reason is not for power, I am very happy with the power of the 140. it's simply for the sound, ive been looking at this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-CELICA-1-8-140-BHP-GT-1ZZFE-VVTi-STAINLESS-STEEL-DE-CAT-EXHAUST-SYSTEM-/221051385028?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3AToyota%7CModel%3ACelica&hash=item3377b074c4 the price seems good for what it is.

Also the induction kit can wait for now, just done the butterfly mod on the airbox and that sounds nice as it is.
