Is it possible to fit deeper profile tyres on smaller (I think they're 15") rims to the iQ3 in the same way as fitted to the iQ / iQ2?

Posted

The iQ's are all the same really, only equipment levels and engine sizes vary so yes, the 15" wheels from an iQ1 or iQ2 will fit straight on the iQ3.

I have a spare 15" wheel and tyre and ran on that for a few weeks when one of my 16" tyres picked up a big chunk of metal and kept going down.

Can I ask why though?

Welcome to the forum.

It is indeed the iQ & iQ2 that has 15" Rims as standard.

175/65R 15 tyres

iQ3 16" wheels, 175/50R 16 Tyres

Are you looking for a softer ride,?

best go try a iQ on 15" wheels because there really is very little difference for the small difference in sidewall height.

** Maybe someone would do a swap with you, your 16" for their 15".**

Hi everyone - thanks for the warm welcome and advice.

My recollection is that I preferred the ride on the 15" rims, but wanted the 'grunt' of the 1.33 engine.

Toyota are superb at making cars which aren't quite right for me.

Ended up with a Picanto (perfectly respectable car, just don't buy the 1 litre version), but I still admire the iQ - something special about them.
