Avensis Air Con Leak

Hi guys,

Learn't a lot from this place but this is my first post. Thanks in advance!

I have a 2004 T2 D4D Avensis, with a leak in the air con system. I have managed to locate the exact place where the leak is coming from, and I am happy to say the compressor and all other components were functioning correctly before this problem reared its head.

The leak is on the piping from the compressor to the radiator (hot gas). There is no leak in the pipe, rather it is from the seal between the pipe and the compressor housing. I am slightly confused as I was under the impression that there should be a o-ring between the two connecting parts. I can see no evidence of any o-ring from removing the pipework and it looks as if it is just a metal to metal seal. (Please see enclosed pictures).

Mr T tried to charge me £90 for a new pipe, I do not think the pipe is even damaged. Does anyone know what type of seal should have been between these two components? Or maybe the adjoining metal faces just need cleaning up and the pipe/compressor nut tightening?

I am thinking it is the latter as the the aircon was working perfectly not too long ago.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks.

Craig
