Engineissues 1999 Avensis 2.0 Petrol 3S-Fe

I`ve got a 1999 Carina/Avensis with the 2.0
petrol 3S-FE engine and manual gearbox. Milage around 155.000. I`ve got a
problem with the engine, its not running smoothly when I have very lighte
trottleopening. Ex. I drive on constant speed in high gear, and reduces the
throttle gradually to lower the speed. When the throttle is almost closed, the
engine starts "clogging" and not running smoothly. The same if I
drive down a hill without throttle in ex. 5th gear and need to open the
throttle just a tiny bit to maintain my speed the engine starts faulting in the
same way. There are no problem at all with the engine when I have more throttle
and it is pulling heavy, it runs smoothly and fine.

I`ve tried to change the sparkplugs, airfilter and have tried to types of
fueladdetive system cleaners without results. The problem seems to be worse by
every day that goes. I had the local garage to take a look at the car. They
runned an engine diagnosis but there were no fault-codes registered. They ment
the problem was issued to the fuelsupply system rather than to the
ignitionsystem, but didn`t look deeper into it because I then had to pay a lot
of money.

I hope someone have som tip for me on where to start looking. I`m very greatful
for any answer :-)

Sorry for my bad english, I`m Norwegian
