looks like he's going for it, other alternative corolla verso is too big.

dealer told him there is one in the colour he wants he can have within 1-2 weeks.

i think it's just a ploy. otherwise 10-12 weeks:(

any hints on a good deal or freebees ????

thanks

If it's 1-2 weeks check if it's a demonstrator. If it is a demonstrator aim for £2k off but you'll be lucky. I only got £1,500 off.

It's difficult to do a deal because they can sell every one they get.

I managed to get the mats! WOW

Check the EXACT rules for the £700 grant. I think they want you to apply BEFORE buying the car!

I actually popped in to the my dealership today and paid for my Prius. Unfortunately there seemed no way to negotiate a deal. As Brain' said they can sell all the cars they get very easily.

Delivery is next Thursday, can't blinking wait! Ordered mine on 28th Jan.

As far as the grant goes I been told that everything is sorted now with the Toyota / EST negotiations and Toyota actually do all the application work for you. You only have to fill in the form on delivery. This is even though I ordered before applying for the grant. So am expecting no trouble with getting my £700.

Best of luck

Jason

Go for it. If you manage a decent discount can you publish how you did it so others can try it?

I have just telephoned 2 localish dealers within 60 miles, not to close, so can use as practise. LOL

just stated what i'm after T4 + metallic + few extra's. let them state total price, and then ask them what the best price is they can do it for. both of them were very generous. haven't discussed delivery yet though :(

just be upfront that you expect some sort of discount, and let them do the talking.

claim that other manufacturers do it.

they have targets to meet, for bonusses for manufacturer. so some might be willing.

good luck, and don't tkae my car away.

I wish I had read this page before I bought mine. I couldn't get anything at all apart from mats (which I believe is free on all Toyota's now) and a full tank of petrol. I did manage to get mine within one week though :)

This is my first week and the best I've done with tank of petrol that came with the Prius is 49mpg.

I will be very interested to know if you get the grant without applying for it before ordering the car, as I am still in 'negotiation' with the EST about my grant and they are adamant that you have to apply first.

We ended up buying from Parklands in cornwall.

gave us £1200 on car none on the options though. (but who cares with 1200 quid off LOL). + £700 from EST.

my dad is very happy with it.

we saw two Prius at toyota Barnsley, we were looking for a car for my wife as the last one got written off, both were T3's :(

one on an 04 plate had a pricetag in it for 16995. sounds a bit pricey to me.

I agree. Bought my T4 demonstrator 11 months ago. It was 7 weeks old and had 1,700 on the clock. Got it for £17,000 including mats. Then there was £1,000 from those very nice EST people. Bargain :D

Hope your wife's OK after the write-off.

yeah,, just as miserable as usually LOL.

we might go to the dark side and replace her corolla with a Almera Tino diesel.

I had a Tino Diesel before the Prius. I liked it. Very practical. Bit noisy and only got 38mpg tops but did drive hard.

More leg room in the Prius though

Since Renault bought Nissan they probably have better common rail diesels now.

interesting, which one was it?

we are looking at the new DCi 136 , which should do abouyt 42 mpg (hopefully) i have driven one, much better then the petrol. also driven a older one which smoked terribly on full throttle. bit strange.

are they renault engines?? the sales people say their not but they would not tell the truth would they.

please tell me more agood and bad points

Mine was a 2.2 turbo diesel on a 51 plate. Can't remember the model but it wasn't the base one. It had alloys, CD and A/C

No real faults to speak of. Very versatile car I think.

The diesel was noisy when cold and still not quiet when warm compared to the Prius. I liked the fact that you could take seats out.

Like I say, leg room should have been better for a car of that size. My teenage son comaplined about lack of room.

Reliable and nice to drive. I may well have got another if the Prius hadn't arrived on the scene.

Try the Audi A2 diesel if you are looking for good mpg. It gives a guarnteed 65mpg and a lot cheaper. But inside is lot smaller.

We looked at that one, buttoo pricey and too small.

thanks.

looked at a 02 corolla verso as well, but very rough round the edges and after both me and my wife drove it, we noticed a 2 inch cut on on of the tyres sidewalls. not very happy about going on the road with that one :( + the V5 and service book were ' in the post'. we ran a mile.

and this is an ex toyota dealer who now sells daihatsu. >idiots

FYI, I had an A2 diesel and it does not guarantee 65 mpg. Over its lifetime with me( 40000) it did around 51 mpg - 48 mpg on long runs and in very cold weather, up to 54 mpg on work run in warm weather . Most people report 48 - 52 mpg . Also the tank on mine was tiny so range was barely 300 miles . Servicing REALLY expensive but only every 2 years or ~ 25000 miles. More rattles than a piggy bank due to excessively firm suspension . Diesel engine also has an exhaust gas recirculating valve that makes a dreadful 'mooing' noise when you press the accelerator ( well known prob - see owners forums). Engine is very noisy generally and the gearbox is snatchy and rattles at low speed.

Good points - excellent aircon and stereo. Good image . Ok residuals . Aluminium panels are very dent resistant. Paint is very scratch resistant. Excellent go kart handling. Loads of torque.

Overall, nice car but not as economical as govt. figures ( what is?). Let down by noisy engine and firm ride . Not a relaxing car to drive.

Hi,

I have just got a 05 T-spirit for £19400 with 3 years free servicing thrown in. Is this a good deal?

The car is excellent esp bluetooth but the car was dirty when we collected it. There wasn't even a full tank of petrol in the car.

Any comments on toyota dealers? My previous dealers were bmw, mercedes and lexus so maybe i was expecting too much?
