Tyre Size!

Hello all,

Firstly apologies if this is covered elsewhere I am somewhat new to forums!

I have purchased a 51 plate, one owner from new Celica 190 with full Toyota service history, with a years MOT.

However the tyres fitted at the front of the car are 205/45/17

According to www.blackcircles.com and www.tyre-shopper.co.uk the car should have 215/45/17.

Which is correct? I would assume the 205s would allow sharper/lighter handling/steering however want the correct size on the car.

Any advice much appreciated. I normally go for the below tyres:

Kumho Ecsta Le Sport KU39

Pirelli P Zero Nero (currently on the car)

Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110 (the tyre's I had on my 325 M Sport)

Uniroyal RainSport 2 (great in wet meant to drag your fuel economy down)

Hankook Ventus Prime 2 K115 (cheap but apparently great all round grip)

Advice much appreciated!

The correct size for a Gen 7 is 205/45. However, many owners have replaced with 215/45..which offer a few benefits.

Softer ride

More rim protection from kerbing

Fills the arches slightly better

Often cheaper than 205/45

The only slight downside, is 215/45 has a larger rolling radius, so acceleration will be a tad slower.

HTH :)

If they're 205's on the rear wheels, I'd stick with 205's for the front. If they're 215's on the rear, go for 215's for the front.

We had Pirelli P Zero Neros as OE on a Mazda 2 (195/16/45's). When we replaced the Pirellis with Kumho Ecsta's we found the car was quieter and the ride better.

Thanks guys!

The rears are also 205/45/17.

Will be getting 215/45/17 Hancock Ventus V12 Evos. Four fully fitted £360 :)

Had them on my 325 and 323 they were great :)

Hi all

I have four new 215/45/17 Hancock Ventus V12 Evo fitted. Noticed the car rides a little better and the tyres are awesome in wet and dry. :-)
