Centre Console Lights

Hi

I am new to the forum but it seems very useful for information, I was wondering if somebody could help with a question I am picking up a 2009 auris 1.33 stop start in a few days but it has been bugging me since I test drove the car should the lcd area with the radio and the climate control info displayed be illuminated orange all the time or only when the headlights are switched on.

I had a 2009 Auris 1.33. The climate control and radio displays are both in the centre console. do you mean these? The centre console climate control display, as far as I remember, is only lit when the headlights are on, and the radio/CD display is only lit when the audio unit is turned on.

Or are you asking about the multi-information display in the instrument cluster in front of the driver and behind the steering wheel? This can display outside temperature, clock, date, trip info (instantaneous fuel consumption, average fuel consumption, driving range, average vehicle speed, elapsed time), and warning messages. This is illuminated orange when the ignition is on regardless of whether the headlights are on or off. However, the brightness of this display can be adjusted.

Hi frostyballs

I meant the lcd info on the centre console sorry if this was not to clear as far as I remember on the test drive I dont think neither lcds ( radio or climate control) where illuminated orange even though the radio was switched on. May go to toyota dealer to look at another auris with ignition and radio on.

Could be that the instrument lighting may be dimmed down. May be wrong on this but I don't think the climate control LCD's (either side of the climate control control) do illuminate orange - think they're backlit.

Was the multi information display (in front of the driver) brightly lit?

Yes it seemed perfectly lit trouble is when you do a test drive certain things can just be a quick check then you think about them afterwards will go tomorrow to local dealer and show interest in another auris to check. Thanks for your prompt replys
