Now that my initial excitement/impressed feelings have calmed down I do have a few problems or bugbears.

First up when the fuel gauge goes to flashing last bar and trip comp says no miles left ,how big is the reserve ?

Can the overly annoying seat belt alarm be destroyed or disabled.

I have basic stereo in the car ,its a 61 plate and I've seen some upgrade touch screen units for sale on eBay anything I should watch out for when buying and is it an easy fit or should it be tackled by those in the know.

Sorry for the barrage of questions but ive been camping in the car and these problems really bugged me .overall though very happy with the car .

Regarding the fuel indicator, I've done 50+ miles with it flashing away and still seen several litres go into the tank.

I can't really help with the other questions. If the alarm is like the Prius then it might be possible to get a dealer to disable it. I know they can do this for the reverse gear beep; I'm sure someone else can advise if it's possible for the seat belt alarm.

As far as I can tell, you can disable the passenger seatbelt alarms, the flashy lights stay on. However I think for legal reasons the driver alarm is permanent. However whether Mr T will actually do the reset is another story.

That's a pain its very annoying I don't mind flashing light but it beeps far too early and gets more and more annoying.

If my maths serve me right theres 10 litres in reserve but there's no indication of the reserve which I find hard to get used to.

As for the stereo replacement i will look into replacing it with the sat nav unit .

Many thanks.

The largest fill-up I've had with nominal "0" flashing is 38 litres in what is a 45 litres tank, so it's fairly conservative.

I sure I read in the Manuel that it was 50 litre tank ,I filled up on flashing 0 and had 38 litres . As long as I know its not as soon as it flashes that's ok I suppose .

As regards seat belt reminders, driver's seat belt reminders (both audible and visual) became mandatory for new vehicles undergoing type approval from 1st November 2012. They will also become mandatory for all new vehicles sold in the EU market from 2014.

Other measures which also come into effect on the above dates are:

1. at least two ISOFIX child seat anchorage points integrated into the rear seat

2. cars will be fitted with new labels, warning against the placement of rearward facing child restraint systems on a seat protected by an active frontal airbag

3. rear passenger seats in front of the luggage compartment will have to be made strong enough to protect against the displacement of luggage in the boot, in case of a frontal car crash

4. tyres of passenger cars will have to be fitted with an on-board tyre pressure monitoring system detecting loss of air pressure and signalling this to the driver

5. cars will also have to be fitted with gear shift indicators aiding drivers to achieve better fuel economy by adopting a more environmentally friendly driving style.

The 2013 Auris won't be affected until 2014, as it retains the whole vehicle type approval for the first generation Auris.
