The Hv Battery Blower

Now, I know it exists, the manual says it does, however, has anyone actually heard theirs come on?

How toasty do the batteries need to be before it kicks in?

What combination of circumstances is likely to toast the cells, causing the blower to be needed?

Dangerous things, car manuals, they only ask more questions. :)

I had mine come on once in the Prius. It wasn't a hot day, nor was it hilly. Just an ordinary drive, and we'd been driving for perhaps an hour or so.

However, we were four up, and there was luggage in the boot, so reasonably well laden. But the vents weren't blocked.

When it came on it was very obvious - a loud fan noise from the rear. It ran for about five or ten minutes. There was no indication on the dash at all or anything. It's never done it since.
