A Little More Oomph!?

Hey everyone! Just got a 1998 Starlet 1.3S and wondered if there are any little tricks for dragging a little more out of the little beast? Also does an 'S' have the wiring available to fit the instrument set that includes a rev counter? Overtaking is ok but I wanna know when to stop revving the buttocks off it 😄

The 4E-FE engine in the Starlet is the same as used in the Corolla of that era. So you could also have a look at the Corolla forum for possible mods.

There are a few simple mods which can be done to increase the power.

I would start with a tubular intake manifold from a 4e-fe corolla and a 50mm throttle body from a 4e-fte. Should see you up to about 80 bhp.

will be keeping an eye in here. Got a Jap import 1n starlet. Want to swap a 5efe but they are a bit rare. 4's are quite common so its interesting to see what you can come up with before committing myself to buy one
