Phone / Ipod Holder

Been looking for a holder for my phone or ipod, wasn't keen on those you attached to the window, noticed some that you attach to the cd slot - I've never used mine since I got the car 5 years ago.

I saw one called the 'cd slot mount' I wrote it of at first as the only security was a sticky pad but I watched some videos on it and decided to take a punt, it came today and below is a photo of it in my Aygo, tomorrow I'll be trying it on the pothole roads on my commute.

My initial thoughts are it's smaller than I originally visualised. In the Aygo due to the angle of the cd player the gadget is closer to the horizontal which I'll need to see how that affects use in different conditions. I hooks in securely when stationary and a cd can be play with the device attached - there is upward movement which I'll be testing over sleeping policemans.

Different materials seem to react differently with the sticky pad, the device has a slight curve, my Nexus 4 looks to only contact against a 1/3rd of the pad and the gorilla glass on the nexus doesn't seem to stick as well although I'm hoping it'll be ok when I take the car out tomorrow (only going to risk in sat landscape), trying it on the screen side of my nexus which has a bestskinsever over you really need to pull to get it of the sticky pad so I'm wondering whether gorilla glass has some kind of none stick properties. My ipod which being curved has less touch area than my nexus but faired better, I could put it on, turn it upside down, try to shake it off and it just stayed there. Lastly I tried the Nexus 4 with a a plastic case which has lots of dimples on the case and this did alot better than just the Nexus 4 on it's own, sadly the case peels my bestskinsever away from the nexus so can't use the case.

Over time dust transfers to the pad making it less effective which is expected but you just run the pad over cold water and let it dry (take 5mins) to restore back to original condition
