Ive recenty looked at my friends carina e to see if i could help him fix his problem of front wheel judder on braking. when i removed the front wheels i found that the holes for the wheel studs in the discs are to big for the studs allowing the discs to rotate indipendently of the hub forward and backward by around 5 mm thus i presume causing the judder.

Is it possible that his car has the wrong wheel studds fitted or have i bought the wrong discs to fit (even though they are an exact match for the old ones ) any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated :help:

When the wheel is on it clamps the disc firmly in place so you dont need to worry about the clearance, as long as the actual centre bore is a snug fit all is well. Just make sure the mating faces between the disc and hub are clean and flat so that the disc sits squarely. Make sure too that the disc isn't warped. Check also that the caliper slide pins and their bores on the caliper dont have too much wear. You should also be looking at the track rod ends, the suspension lower ball joint and possibly the rubber bushes of the lower suspension arm, all are possible sources of judder.
