Well it's in thanks to loads of people on here for help, most notible Toyota PR who provided me with a Paseo ECU diagram  & Knolwson & Bibbs & Andrew! B)

Pics don't do it justice, imagine a combo of the three, the clarity of the flash pic with the vibrant display of the blurred one combined with the factory pic!!

RSM.jpg

RSM_withflash.jpg

RSM_withoutflash.jpg

Basically it gives you Revs, Speed, Volts, G-Force, 0-400 meters etc, trip, lap times plus other stuff - it'll take me a year to figure out all the functions!

We took the entire centre console apart, ripped out the ash tray & lighter area & my mate made me a custom panel for the RSM from wood, we covered it with a leather look material & it has brackets to give it some angle & a hole which you can't see for the wiring to go through - (still needs some black screw caps), looks wicked I have to say! B)

It feeds straight into the ECU but I'm having trouble locating the Rev wire in the Paseo. Also the instructions for the G-Force Sensor are in Japanese so I need to know how to install it! :bookworm:

a message from my mate with an MR2 and G-sensor

Bibbs says:

you got a G-sensor for your RSM?

chris says:

yes paid £80 for the RSM with G sensor  off imoc.co.uk

Bibbs says:

and you got it working?

chris says:

yes it all works

Bibbs says:

happen to know where the three wires from the sensor go?

Bibbs says:

(instructions in jap)

chris says:

you dont connect them, spoke to Apexi in the USA on my works phone.

Bibbs says:

So what do you do with them?

Bibbs says:

(asking for a mate)

chris says:

leave them disconnected its for cars with different ECUs to ours.

chris says:

On MR2s they said just leave them

Bibbs says:

ahh .. he has a Paseo ..

chris says:

not sure on that best to ring or email them

Bibbs says:

cool

Does the RSM switch from mph to kmph ?

As having a Jap ECU it'll think it's in kmph and the 400m runs will be out ..

and can you follow the REV's feed from your rev counter? should be marked on the back of the dial unit ..

I don't fancy getting behind my dash it's so compact back there! :(

Thanks for the help on the G-Sensor front, it doesn't switch to MPH... <_<

Does your mate have the e-mail addy for Apexi? I can't find it anywhere!

Yea thats all I could find, don't fancy phoning the US much!

I need to find a way to switch the RSM to work in kmph ..

So your 0-400m are inaccurate? cause it's actually measuring the distance travelled as 40% of a mile?

I don't know I haven't played with that function yet but bascially it does everything in kph - it gives you the option I've seen in the book to select either 0-400 metres etc or Kilometers.

Maybe I'll just plug the G-Sensor in then & see what happens!

so does your speed readout display MPH (even though kmph is lit)?

Just plug in the G-Sensor? I'd agree with that .. I can't see the MR2 having a special ECU that does all the other bits by smoke and mirrors .. not wires ..

It doesn't read anything in MPH - all KMPH, I don't think you can change it.

I'll mount-up the sensor then although Andy says his didn't seem to work...

So when you are doing 70mph .. the sensor is actually telling you it's doing 110 kmph ??

Damn these import cars ..

So it seems that the UK cars have Jap ECU's and it's jsut the dials that are different ..

I've never paid attention to KMPH so I'm not great at the conversions but the KPH speed on my normal dials tallys perfectly with what the RSM is saying my speed is.

Paseo's were built in Japan which might explain it, maybe it means my ECU talks in KMPH?:lol:

So how have you got around the 110 mph limit and an MOT requirement for a mph speedo?

*sorry, didn't realise the Seo was a kmph/jap mobile .. now wondering about Knowlson's 'rolla, with his engine swap ..

I have a MPH speedo, what I meant was it has KMH on it also! Sorry I'm confusing myself now...

Seo's aren't limited - does that mean the ECU's are European ones & different to the Jap spec do you think?

Think it means as a general idea, that the ECU's are all in kmph ..

But only the jap ones are limited ..

I now need a new speedo dial .. with mph and kmph .. and then use the rsm to de-limit my car ..

Yea the delimiter is quite a cool feature if you need one.

Andrew has been v.helpful with locating the Rev wire so I think I'm sorted on that front & I'll plug in the G-Sensor & see what happens i guess!
