New User Looking For Help And Advice With Corolla Verso And Odd Cv Joi

I'm having real trouble getting hold of the correct part for my Corolla Verso. it's a late 2001 built model and had two knackered CV joints when I bought it. Had them done 3 years ago but one is going again!

This problem in itself gives me concerns as they really really shouldn't be going. Anyway, there's no way I can afford to take it Toyota directly (part alone is £360+VAT). The part numbers they have given me are 4346080004 (as fitted at factory) but has been replaced by 4346080125, and the latter is what they'd supply me.

Aftermarket parts from Blueprint match to ADT38963. This part does not fit my driveshaft. It's simply too large. Also when matching it to my hub it just doesn't appear to fit. The ABS teeth don't recede enough to line up with the sensor. It seems that the whole fitment on the car appears to be smaller (and weaker which would explain the premature failures). I have gone as far as to get an entire driveshaft complete with inner and outer CVs from a breakers yard which does appear to match the size of the larger replacement Blueprint part (and looks like it's the original part judging by the visible signs of age).

So either, when the joints were changed at a local garage 3 years ago, they magically found entire hub assemblies and complete driveshafts and didn't charge me for any more than just the outer CVs, …OR… Toyota fit entirely different setups in the very early days on the production line …OR… Toyota fit different shafts and outer CVs but the hubs are standard sizes and I'm just being stupid and for some reason not inserting the outer joint correctly.

Either way it looks like Toyota have completely done me up royally!

Has anyone else had issues sourcing parts for these early Corolla Versos?

The Verso CV and Corolla CV's are different. It would not surprise me that the ADL catalogue is incorrect and they just don't make a CV for the Verso model
