Aygo Move With Style, Couple Of Questions....

Recommended Posts

Hi took delivery of my new Aygo move with style mmt yesterday. Just a couple of questions I need help with

1. On the speedo display my previous Aygo showed which gear you were in in auto mode this one shows the mode and N and R but no gear numbers, does anyone know if this is a change on new models or a fault?

2 In the handbook the aux point for ipod etc shows a a outlet socket under the radio however in reality the connecting wires and plugs are actually coming out of the left hand side of the centre assembly resting in the space where the glove box would be if there was one!! Any comments welcome please as to of the handbook is ahead of the actual current design. Cheers

First thoughts:

1. you're probably one of the first on the forum who have one of the new trim levels

2. have you checked with your dealer that you've been given the most up to date owners manual

Possibly Parts King or Devon Aygo could help.

Thanks for that, am ringing dealer tomorrow to check. Neither a deal breaker just wanted a heads up before i speak to them. Cheers

You have a new Aygo with MMT when you are in "Auto" mode all you will see is the current stick position, if you move the stick to the right into "semi auto" mode and use the Flappy paddles or stick to shift then you will see 1,2,3,4 etc also of note you can actually temporarily override the car when in "auto" mode by using the flappy paddles to select a forward gear the car will then revert back to full auto again after a short while.

Aygo move is fitted with TomTom which is fitted when the car arrives in the UK, the AUX port in the centre console is not fitted at the factory at the request of Toyota UK as they fit the TOMTOM which has a USB & IPOD connector in the glove box cubby instead. The handbook is generic to all models and may show things that are not included in your model and because the TOMTOM is an accessory it will have its own separate manual.

If you want a glove box there is an accessory lid available for around £30

Thanks, good to know nothing is wrong! Have tried the semi auto and as you say this does show the actual gear you are in as opposed to in auto mode where it just shows e/n or r (which is different to my old 08 AYGO blue which showed actual gear in both modes. Not a problem just wanted to know things were ok! Same with Tom Tom and the leads. I guessed it was a generic handbook issue and not a bodge job but again good to know the facts. Had a glove box cover on the old AYGO but so flimsy did not bother this time around anyway. Cheers for the info.

Apart from your questions, how do you find the aygo?

I'm looking at picking the car up myself in the same trim due to the 0& apr on PHP and free insurance at the moment.

First hand experience on what you think would be great. Not alot of reviews out there for this trim - guessing because it's new.

Hi Kev

I have had the car on the same deal except I negotiated more partex in place of the free insurance as had only recently renewed on my old car and would have lost a lot of finishing that insurance early. It is a good deal though (well it works for me!). As to the car well my last one was an Aygo Blue and was 5 1/2 years old so what differences have I noticed........generally all is as was before and trim differences more cosmetic than material however the reduction in noise is significant over my old car. Clearly a lot more soundproofing has been added and the ride seems a lot better especially in terms of driving over rumble strips seems far less harsh than before. All of this is relative of course as you get what you pay for but I am happy so far. If there is anything specific you need to know feel free to ask. Cheers.

Thanks for taking the time to reply mate.

I was wondering how the TomTom works, can it be removed when not in use (Doesn't look built in to me - more just placed into dashboard)? Mostly to stop it being stolen. Does it act as a touch screen media centre also or is the radio controls seperate?

I don't suppose you have an iPhone too do you? Was wondering how that works hooked up to the car. Playing music and making calls. Can it read out texts also?

My last concern is the key. Is it button operated with a fold out key for ignition or is it a standard looking car key? Silly I know but I like it to look good on my keyring ha.

I think i'm going to go for a test drive this weekend as like you said the deal looks good. Not had a card this small so far (Fiesta, Punto and Corsa in past) but at this price it looks very promising. Did you get yours on PHP? What are you going to do at the end of the deal do you think?

Pictures would be great also dude :D Only seen promo ones so far. Particually night time shots with car all lit up inside as I doubt I will get to see this on my test drive.

Thanks :)

No probs replying is what makes the forum useful!!

Tom Tom slots into the permanent dock on the dashboard so does indeed easily remove and the dock itself folds down so not obvious there is one to prying eyes. The radio controls are seperate but just for the radio and cd player everything else works off the Tom Tom as far as I can see. If you google tomtom toyota you can get up a full instruction manual as I did yesterday to find out why my blackberry was not pairing up for hands free phone...silly me forgot to put my phone on detectable!!!

Dont have I phone/ I pod etc so cant help you on that one sorry.

Key is bog standard one.

At the end of my deal I will probably have another new Toyota but will cross that bridge in 3 years time.

I used to have larger cars but moved to a city centre apartment seven years ago and at that time had a Yaris (the best built car I have ever owned to be honest). Even then though I did not need that size car so downsized to the AYGO and as I said earler you get what you pay for so bear that in mind when taking the test drive. It is really designed as a city car although I do a 120 mile motorway round trip each weekend quite comfortably. Its the running costs that are so good though, yep its a "cheap" car but it meets my needs. Very much a case of horses for courses, if i was still working and driving 25,000 miles a year then no way but as a cheap and cheerful city car runoround I think it takes some beating. Cars though are a very personal thing so have a good test drive. Let me know what you think.

Pics I dont have but I have the Napoli Blue version which is a really light blue but I love it, it certainly stands out and the rear privacy glass looks good although takes a bit of getting used to with rear view through mirror not being so bright!

Cheers
