How Do I Fit The Clear Front Lenses?

I've tried prising the reflector bits out with everything from a "flat head screwdriver" to a huge butter knife. It doesnt want to pop out!

Anyone had any experience on this subject?

Cheers

you prise out the larger light/front part .. then the side reflector is screwed in ..

Now Im really confused!

From what I could make out you put the butter knife in the middle of the relfector unit and the light bit and push it towards the front of the car forcing the reflector to pop up and out. Exactly the same way as I did for the rear lights, popping the side bits off.

Am I getting it the wrong way around ?

Put the knife in the slot and pop the reflector out yeah (soz, had it the wrong way in my head) ..

It's just clipped in at the rear edge and there is a metal stud in the middle ..

You can be quite forceful .. but I actually had to prise one and slowly spin it round to unscrew it from the metal stud in the middle ..

If its the original lens your trying to get off, you will have to give it some force cos the metal pins on the back rust up.

I've changed quite a few of the mk2 front lenses and have noticed that the older the car is the more ahem...*taxing* it is!

The technique I've used in the past is the flat headed screwdriver to prise apart the two units and then simply try and get your fingers really gripped on to the clusters and pull firmly outwards towards the front of the car.

If using screwdrivers + brute force that's when you tend to break, split and shatter things which isn't good. Especially if you wish to transfer them back on to your car when you come to sell it, or you want to flog them on eBay for £30 - £40!

Got is sussed last night and all popped out. The light fitments were different though (must have got Toyota UK lenses) but some more brute force and they were in too :)
