Any Verso 1.6 Owners Out There?

HI GUYS n GIRLS

I am sorry to have to start a new thread since my last thread in regards to buying a diesel Verso...however we have had a change in mind after all that EGR and DPF talk lol.

Now we're thinking, as we moving up from a 2006 1.6 petrol Corolla...maybe we should consider something like a 2009 1.6 petrol Verso...so the last of that older shape I guess.

Do they have the exact same engines in the Verso's as to the Corollas?

Is it true that the gearboxes are susceptible to failure at any time?

How do they perform in terms MPG?

I have noticed that the majority of that shape n year are mainly T2 specs, but have also come across an LE spec if anyone knows more about this?

We love the look of the T180...ie the wheels, tail lamps, twin back box exhaust...has anybody upgraded there Verso to match this?

We really look forward to some response kind responses. Thanks ALL.

Sammy :flowers:

In the UK the last model Verso only had a 1.6 engine in entry level T2 spec the higher Spec'd T3, TR, SR & T-spirit all had a 1.8 petrol engine which was more suited to the heavier Verso. The LE was a strange one, back in 2009 when the financial crisis hit Ireland was really badly affected and car sales fell through the floor, Toyota Ireland had large amounts of unsold stock such as Auris, Verso & Rav. Toyota GB bought this overstock called them LE's and offered them with large discounts for sale in the UK. The LE name was used as the Irish spec's didn't match those of the UK cars in the case of the Verso the LE's where all 1.6 engines but the spec was a mix of bits from T3 & Tspirit.

As for accessorising the T180 wheels would fit, as would the lamps, but the twin exhaust was an optional extra on the T180 only

A friend of mine has a petrol Verso TR, though its a 2010 model. He's never had any gearbox trouble and is happy with his car.

THANK YOU so very much Devon Aygo...that makes very interesting reading indeed...so the LE which I assume stands for Limited Edition originate from the Ireland market but are registered here in the U.K. They are certainly rare indeed, the one we were looking at has more or less everything, from rear dvd screens to all round park sensors and roof rails...HOWEVER that is not enough for my other half as he has now seen a 2010 diesel with leather and a panoramic roof...he's killing me lol...we agreed that a diesel wasn't for us since we don't do enough miles per year to qualify...but he likes all the toys...so I've kind of given up...is it wise to buy a car for its toys over practicality???? Men!!!!

Hi

Before you take the diesel route, I suggest you look at this thread: http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/132178-charliefarlies-guide-to-the-toyota-2ad-diesel-engine-and-its-issues/

I've been looking at S/H cars and have been looking at Toyotas, the above thread has put me off anything with 1AD/2AD diesel engine.

HTH

Thanks mate...
