Truly A Mk1 Mr2 To Be Proud Of !

Hi everyone

I have got to show you guys a very clean example of how a mk1 MR2 could look like with a little bit of loving care  This shining example belongs to my friend MidshipPilot  I first saw this car down at the gaydon meet. I was impressed with his car then. I later learnt that he was thinking off doing a interior make over. I told him if he was going to do it i would love to see the finished results. To my surprise he did the make over :o Enjoy the pictures

Cracking job, and a nice set of mods, keeps the car original, but also adds some fantastic refinements.

Thanks for all your comments guys and girls, I appreciate it  Sorry my computer has been offline since Thursday!! Thanks also to Jerry for posting, cheers mate

I always wanted a Mk1 and was pleased to find this one in relative good condition. I am not very mechanical so spent some time with my local garage - full service and sorting out a few rusty spots, then it was out with the old and very large air filter system and in with a K&N, which made such a difference in performance and sound, then I noticed from the service records that the exzorst had been changed or repaired every 2 years or less and to think this car is nearly 17 years old that's a lot of dosh, so time for a S/S one. When I got the car the interior did look dated and the first thing to change was the steering wheel - nice Momo Champion (I think these were used on the Super Charged version, but don't quote me) - then I found a picture of a Lambo Diablo interior and I thought why not try for something like that. That's was the plan and colour scheme sorted, I just had to realise it - couldn't find the right shade of carpet, couldn't find an upholsterer who would do it unless I paid over a grand!! I decided to do the car seats myself with mock suede - it started off ok but I soon realised that this would take me forever and I wasn't enjoying it - I finally found Richfield seats in Nottingham and I took the seats up there, whilst they were away I searched the carpet shops and found the one, cost me £60 and took 2 days to fit, bit of a mare, the original ones are heat moulded and in one piece, I had to cut 2 pieces and sew them together, I am very pleased with the end result! It was off the road for 4 weeks and I was dying to get in it and drive, drive, drive ... can't wait for the sunny days.

Hi MidShipPilot, great job

About the K&N, is that the one that sits in the engine bay? thinkin of ordering one today.

Hi Surinder - yes it is, it looks so cool. I have pictures if you want to pm your email to me. There are one or two points you need to consider but will explain if you want to go ahead.

Sounds like a mini turbo too!

I dont live too far from notts - how much we talking for seats to look that good???

Richfield Seating, they are on the www, with phone numbers etc., they were really helpful but busy, you need to book them at least 4 weeks in advance - I just left mine with them, gave me chance to do the rest of the interior. They would normally turn round in 2-3 days. It's fun driving without seats tho

Thanks to all for your comments
