2006 D4D Yaris Engine Management Light

I was driving my D4D Yaris today this morning, Suddenly the engine management light came on and the car lost power, I re-started the car and it drove ok but the light stayed on. The light stayed on during several journeys then one journey i start the car but the light never come on????Amyone experience this problem?

Too many things it could be! I'd recommend getting a garage to plug a diagnostic reader into it to get a better idea of what it could be.

I'm gonna guess DPF or EGR :D

Exhaust Gas Recirculator; Takes air from the exhaust and feeds it back into the engine. The valves that control this tend to get sooted up and will eventually get clogged or jammed.

Can be cleaned pretty easily, although Toyota garages tend to charge to unnecessarily replace the whole valve.
