Hello. Im looking to buy an item for my 07 plate Rav but the listing says it is for a short wheel base model.

My question is, are there short or long wheel base models and how would I know?

Ive looked in my manual and theres nothing in there I can find!!

Cheers.

I would have said that SWB = 3-door & LWB = 5-door but that would only apply to the 4.2 and yours is a 4.3 judging by the no. plate.

Check whether you're on a US site because I believe that the US market gets a 7-seater which might have a longer chassis that the standard car. I'm not 100% sure about this but I know that some of the more knowledgeable members will correct me if I'm wrong.

Yup, quite right Jim, we get the 'short wheelbase', our American cousins have the 'long wheel base' to accommodate the extra row of seats.

As the chaps state the U.S has a long wheelbase seven seater, five seats for passengers and two seats to transport the Burger Kings Home. Your UK 5 door will be a S.W.B. 5 door if buying accessories from the U.S.

It was buried in the cranial archives. Every time I'm in the US I always see these "stretched" RAV's and think how nice it would be to get them in UK.

There also seems to be quite a few other Toyota 4x4's available in the US that we never see in Europe (Highlander, 4Runner, Tundra, etc). No doubt they are designed/tuned for the US tastes so the Clarksons of the UK would probably poo-poo them as being dynamically inferior. Nevertheless they are seriously good looking vehicles with lots of room and capability. Personally I'd have a Tundra as quickly as I'd have an F-150 or a RAM........

A good few of the US/Japan Toyota 'goodies' appear over here in Spain, including the Vanguard (RAV4 variant, 3.5 V6), Highlander (2.7, 3.3 hybrid, 3.5 V6), 4Runner, Tacoma and even the FJ Cruiser (all three 4.0 V6).

Some seriously sexy and thirsty stuff, with hardly a diesel in sight.

Thats where diesel is 5p a litre and petrol is free. Where would our country (good ol UK) be if those of us in Scotland wurnae paying £1.46 a litre tax to the London government ? Roll on independence if it means cheap fuel !

But If Orkney get independence (from Scotland) they'll take their oil (and revenue with them ;)

Cannae happen as the refinery is doon at Grangemouth. Plus they get their supplies from Aberdeen and the airstrip is too short for the RAF to help.
