Should Mmt Toyota Auris Creep?

Hi all,

I bought a Toyota Auris semi auto MMT yesterday, and despite negative reviews about the gearbox being jerky I think I can live with it and just adapt my driving style a little.

That said, I have just been to the shops and as it won't creep, parking forward on was a nightmare - I had to accelerate to creep forward far enough to get my car in, and at a slow pace this is horrifically jerky and I was worried about going through the wall!

My question is, SHOULD it creep? Various places say different things. I bought it from AvailableCar with 3 months free warranty so if this is a problem I need to get fixed I need to do it sooner rather than later, but if it's how the car works as standard then I'd better practise reverse parking!!

Thanks :)

From what I remember it should creep; That may have been after a firmware update tho'...

The clutch probably needs a "reset". It will need to go to a Toyota dealership for that.

Yes, it should creep.

Thanks. Any idea how much it will cost? Do you think it'd be covered under AvailableCars free 3 month warranty? I'm guessing not as it's technically not a 'problem'

I've just been reading about these gearboxes slipping into N in dangerous situations too, and am now rather worried. Does anyone have any more information about that and know if there's been a recall/ any knowledge of which cars it affects/ how common it is?

There have been recalls on Auris, Contact your local dealer to see if there are any outstanding, as for creep it should creep both forwards and backwards.

How old is the car, when was it registered ?
