Black Smoke

hi my d4d 04 with 150,000 miles on the clock has started to black smoke quite a lot when you put your foot down, have checked egr valve and maf sensor does not seem to any problem there, I have found a small amount of oil going into the intercooler pipe from the breather pipe coming from the rocker cover, not sure if this is normal ? any suggestion. tony49

Sounds like it could be an injector problem if you've check/ cleaned maf ect. What fault codes are coming up???

1st thing I'd do is change the fuel and air filter and put some BG 244 in the tank with some V-Power derv! 🚗💨😎

The small amount of oil that you found in the breather pipe is normal from the rocker cover! It's the vapour that gets sent down pipe to be re-burnt. 👍

Does it only do it above ~2000rpm? Could be a turbo issue.

thanks for the replys the fuel filter was replaced 3 months ago a long with air filter, it does start to smoke around 2000 rpm white when cold/ black when running normal, there are no fault codes saying that the eml light has just come on I will get this checked out later on tonight, it had a good run yesterday it smoked when you first pull off then calms down if you let it stand for 15 mins and pull off it does the same thing a big cloud of black smoke !
