My Wife has just joined the Aygo Owners fraternity. After driving a Mazda6 for 10+yrs its quite a change.. but think she is loving it so far.

We have bought a 2012 ICE model. In reading lots and lots it appears the 2012 model brought the option for Daytime Running lights and were standard on the fire model. Wasn't it mandated from 2011 that all new cars required DRL or have I missed something?

Many thanks for any info..

Cheers

The requirement was that vehicles put forward for new Type Approval after February 2011 have to be fitted with DRL's. The Aygo Type Approval would date back to 2005 - so DRL's are currently not a legal requirement for new Aygos.

For example the 2013 Toyota Auris uses the Type Approval from the first generation Auris, so does not currently need DRL's installed.

However I believe that all new cars, regardless of when their Type Approval was obtained, will need DRL's from early 2014.
