New Auris Hsd, A Couple Of Questions Regarding Charging

Hi.

I've had my Auris HSD (2013) 3-4 months now (I'm from Sweden) and really loving it. It has made me into a much more relaxed driver. I'm no longer that douche in the SUV :)

A couple of question regarding HV Battery charging:

1. Does the darker green arrows indicate a more "powerful" charge than the lighter green ones. I.e. you charge more when braking than by letting the combustion engine charge the batteries?

2. Does using the footbrake increase charging compared to just release the throttle? When I brake the indicator hits the bottom.

All this Battery and EV stuff is just voodo :)

Thanks

I thought the lighter & darker green arrows signified direction of energy flow? Light green, you are using the Battery, dark green you are charging the Battery.

As for the brakes, yes, they will provide more charge than just releasing the throttle. The further into the charging zone on the display the more you are charging the batteries.

Be careful that you are not braking too hard though in normal braking conditions, as then you start to use the normal mechanical brakes, and they cost money to replace!

Thx for the input.

Actually there are two types of green indicating energy flow to the Battery. And based on your answer I guess the darker green means a higher degree of charging than the light green one because the dark green is shown when lifting the throttle or braking. The light green is on when the petrol engine is charging the Battery.

I really should stop looking at that display ... :)
