2013 Rav4 Rear Sensors And Silencer Problem!

Hi guys!

I bought a 2013 Toyota RAV4 back in March this year and I'm loving it so far. However,I've encountered with a problem now.My friends kept telling me that I needed to hook my RAV up with bumper-guards.Listening to their advice,I hooked up my RAV with bumper protectors both in the front and back. After the bumper-guards were hooked up,I started the vehicle and heard some thuds from the back. When I checked out what the problem was,it was the silencer. It kept hitting horizontally against a part from one of the hooks used to hold the bumper-guard in place. The thuds stopped when I turned off the A/C,but as soon as I turn them back on,the thuds start!I went back into the automotive shop and told them about this problem. The guy came out and removed a small metal part which is used to hold the silencer properly(I had realized this later). The thuds stopped and I was on my was back home.During the short trip,my car drove over some potholes and some manholes and I could hear the silencer hitting against the car(This time it was hitting against the underneath the car. This is a huge concern for me now!And a couple of days ago,I decided to go out. After starting my car,and shifting the gear into R(Reverse),my rear sensor kept on beeping continuously even though there was nothing behind my car.Now the sensors are totally useless! It keeps on beeping in a continuous manner even though there absolutely nothing behind my car! This problem didn't occur for the first couple of days.I'm planning on taking my car back to the automotive shop to get it checked.I thought you guys might also know something about this problem.Your thoughts and comments on this matter is obliged!

What happens if you take the bumper guards off? Do the sensors still beep or are they back to normal?

Are the bumper guards Toyota items or aftermarket?

I suspect the guards (mounts) are badly designed and interfere a) with your silencer, b) with your reverse sensors. In the UK that would mean they are not "fit for purpose" and you could demand your money back. Not sure of the law where you are.

Good luck.
