Problem With My Smart Key

Can anyone help me - I've had my Auris for nearly 5 years. About this time last year whilst my car was parked on my drive, I could not get my smart key to work, by just pressing the handle. By pointing the key towards the dashboard, it would work sometimes, I also had difficulty locking the door when I returned. When I was away from the house the key worked perfectly every time. I took the car to the dealer and they put in a new Battery. Which seemed to sort the problem. By the way the problem lasted about 4 to 5 days. Guess what the same thing is happening this year, for the last few days I've had the same problem at home, but away from home it works perfectly. I've had a new Battery put in and tonight I had difficulty locking it. I've tried placing the car in different positions on the drive, even reversing onto the drive with no effect. Am I going crazy? It just doesn't seem to work at home, and its the same time of year.

  • 2 weeks later...

Over on the IQ forum some guy had a similar problem, and one of the suggestions was data transmitted on the National Grid power lines causing this type of fault.

Thanks for that. As I explained the problem happened exactly the same time last year, and lasted about a week, same as this year. Problem has now gone away. spooky.
