Update On The 3s-gte Rolla

well finaly took the remains of the motor out stripped it down. damage is as follows:-

2 broken con rods

4 damaged pistons

6 bent valves

damage to 2 combustion chambers

scrap crank

scrap block

piccys will follow (cant log in to the gallery?)

I seriously hope your talking about the OLD motor not the NEW one :o

I've just found your previous post OOOHHH *****. Any ideas yet about the cause of the damage?

cant be sure found that the oil strainer was full of the big end bearing remains, that would have caused massive oil starvation but did oil starvation cause the bearings to fail first? going to see if i can claim under toyota's 12mth warranty (block crank and rods werebrand new) their engineer should be able to spread some light on it. oil pump seems tight so may have been this that failed. i'll wait for the engineers report and see. looks like a full new engine req dont think i'll be able to salvage much from this one

How much is that gunna set you back for a new engine or repalcement parts??

well the interesting part is that the damage may be covered under warranty as i had a brand new short engine for the rebuild and as its still less than 12mth old (arived last july but not in the car until january) and at the moment it looks like oil gallery failure so a new engine from mr t thankyou
