Hello,

As the topic title says, this is my first Toyota car, which I bought privately last week, 2 owners @ 42k :)

Unfortunately my 94 Mercedes auto E220 Coupe succumbed to the dreaded rust on the rear subframe. The cost to repair it was going to be expensive (in excess of £3k) even then they could not guarantee that it would track straight after the work.

I have owned or had as company cars many brands, but never a Toyota. I suppose some of you may wonder why I choose a Toyota. In the last 5 years my mileage has dropped dramatically to around 8K per year. I was looking for a medium size 5 door with auto. My sister has had a number of Toyota's and has been very impressed with them. I have enjoyed being in them and even drove a couple, on ocassions.

My budget was £5k for another car, initially I was considering Golf's and A3's. However for my budget, it was very high mileage cars (120K +) on offer. I found my current car being sold two miles from where I live. Its in very good condition, the odd scratch and a scrape on the rear bumper, overall in very tidy condition. What impressed me was the level of standard equipment fitted to the spirit, the original owner had the rear parking sensors and protection pack fitted as well.

I am aware of the foibles on the MMT and through this forum I am considering upgrading the MMT ECU. My local dealer has just performed a Full+ service on the car, brake fluid change and air-con service. The coffee in reception is 5star.

Am I happy with the car, Yes, very much so, I will be looking into the upgrade for MMT ECU next week.

Thank you for reading this, sorry it's a tad long.

David

Hope that you enjoy your Auris :)

The MMT gearbox is not to everyone's taste, however I ran an MMT Yaris for many years without any problems and found it very reliable and smooth in operation
