Power Steering Intermittent Failure

OK, so, had my Auris now for about 6/7 months and cant be happier with it. Although I have recently come across a strange problem. As mentioned in the title the power steering intermittently fails, and will reset all my accessories (radio, boost gauge, anything connected to the accessories really) whereas everything else (headlights, engine etc.) still works fine with no noticeable loss. Does anyone have any ideas for this. It seems to do this when the steering is jerked to the left or right. Is it my Battery failing to provide power so the system resets, the alternator not providing enough power (alas a protection system cuts in) or is it the steering ecu box playing silly buggers. Any help/Advice would be appreciated please.
