I just had a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler and 2.25" cat back exhaust installed on my truck. I learned a lot on this board about cat back exhaust and alternative options so I though it was only right to post back and let everyone know what I've found so far. I replaced a worn out original muffler so the replacement was going to happen, which one to replace my original with was my decision.

I have a couple of 6 percent grade hills near where I live that to go over them in 5th gear I would normally have to be up over 63 mph to carry my speed over the top. Since the speed limit in this section of road is only 50 mph I usually shift down and carry my speed at 50 to 55 mph. If I try to go over at 63 and get slowed down and my speed dropped below 60 mph I could not gain it back in 5th gear, downshifting was my only option or I would continue to slow. I have Goodyear Wrangler T/A's 9.50x30 IIRC mounted on American Racing Aluminum 6 hole 8"x15" wheels. I have checked my speedometer with a GPS and I am within 1 mph of true speed at 60 mph. The DLX longbed pickup did not offer a tacometer so I don't have RPM details. I checked with a shop and they said with my tires I was close to 2,850 RPM at 60 MPH. My truck has the 22RE (2.4L Fuel Injected) engine and is in original condition with 118,000 miles. I've replaced a leaking Clutch Master Cylinder 2 years ago and a fuel guage sending unit about 7 years ago. Everything else is stock/original. Oh, I spend a lot of miles in the last 12 years pulling my 19' Aluminum boat and I'm surprised I still have my original clutch. I've gone through 3 sets of tires on my boat trailer in 12 years. You guess the mileage ;)

The Dynomax Super Turbo muffler with custom built 2.25" piping from the cat back allows me to climb the hills at 50 MPH in 5th gear without losing any speed. When I put my foot down a little I can begin to accelerate up the hill that used to slow me down in 5th gear. I was able to accelerate up to the top of the hill at 60 MPH before slowing back down to 55 MPH. I'm very pleased with the Dynomax cat back system installed at Exhaust Specialties of Beaverton. This muffler is also as quiet or quieter than the original was. At least until it breaks in, if it changes at all. Anyone wondering about going back to an original exhaust or upgrading to an aftermarket muffler I can now reccoment the Dynomax muffler with the 2.25" cat back piping. The original cat back replacement from Beaverton Toyota was $123.11 plus gasket. The Dynomax Super Turbo with 2.25" cat back piping and installation was $200.00.
