People across the country will wake up tomorrow morning after having an extra hour in bed the UK reverts to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

The news will bring joy to some as Christmas is a few shopping weeks away while others will see doom and gloom as the sun goes away for winter.

The Daylight Saving Bill was brought in 1916 by the House of Commons to help factories increase productivity and allow people to get home safely before the blackout.

The benefits of moving the clocks forward and backwards has been debated since it was first introduced.

Plans have bee suggested recently to move the country to Central European Time which would result in lighter winter evenings.

Supporters claim the measures would reduce road deaths, boost tourism and reduce energy use.

However, the proposals have faced opposition from people in Scotland who do not welcome the prop sects of an extra hour of darkness in the morning
