Most Relaxing Car To Drive

I've just completed a long weekend trip from Yorkshire to Portsmouth and back, and I've got to say driving a hybrid must be one of the most relaxing cars there is.

Enough power on the motorway, and happy in congested traffic, and all with a calculated 60 MPG, what more do you want!

It's good to read you like you're new car, we're replacing our Yaris with a hybrid in December, it's reassuring to read positive feedback. ;)

70mpg? :D

My Prius generally beats 70mpg on a longer run without trying too hard...(although the on-board computer is a little optimistic 2½-3 mpg.

Don't get too relaxed. A friend fell asleep when they took a Prius on a motorway for the first time.

Eeek!

I recommend eating banana or two during longer journeys, helps keep the brain running... I tried chocolate but it seemed to wear off very quickly and make me more tired!

Water or some sort of softdrink from a squeezy bottle is also a good idea.

Also lots of sleep and the use of a toilet before the journey

I suppose that's one thing with my Yaris, very hard to fall asleep because it is so noisy and uncomfortable on long journeys

My passengers often fall asleep in the Prius.

I like to think it is because of the relaxing drive.

I've also had comments from people that normally get car sick (or at least queasy) that they feel better in a Prius which I put down to it's smooth, gear less drive and calm, vibration free progress in slow traffic. (and also my smooth driving :) )

Gen 2 was voted easiest car to drive in the 2009(IIRC) JD power survey.

My Prius+ feels better planted and is quieter than the Gen 3 I had and is very relaxing to drive, I find myself more forgiving of other idiots' drivers' follies on the road.

The Prius definitely has a calming effect on a lot of drivers (and often their passengers).

I haven't driven a +, but my Gen 3 on 15" wheels is quieter and rides better than the Gen 2, but I guess choice of tyre can influence that too. I'm about to replace my fronts and thinking of Dunlop Sport BluResponse for their alleges 68 dB noise rating.

Was the Gen 3 you drove riding on 17" wheels?

Yes it was a T-spirit and so is the + on 17" wheels. I had a test drive in a PIP with the 15" wheels and it was almost as noisy as the T-Spirit, nowhere near as quiet as the +.
