Hi Toyota people. Recent I have Used a lot of Headlight bulbs........ Last night I decided to check the fuses. So i started pulling them, inspecting and then putting them back. Methodicly....... Then to my suprise the car now wont start. Nightmare. What have i done. The dash lights come on but the starter motor does not turn. It seems to me that I have put it into a sort of Stop Mode. Help... Work in the morning.

it could be that when checking the fuses one has popped, i would start with the fuses again.

Sounds to me like the Battery is maybe on its way out anyway or maybe an alternator fault,?how long was the light plugged in for.

Its not the Battery or starter motor or alternater , Honestly.... Iv blown a fuse somewhere me thinks. Modern cars dont like anyone messin with fuses. I may need to get a computer plugged in. But before this I will check all of my fuses in the morning. Thanks for input though. Thankyou. It runs in the blood TOYOTA

Is it possible you did put fuses back in the wrong place if there are adjacent free places in the fuse box?

Bingo its up and running. I have had good look this morning and indeed i HAD put a fuse back in the wrong place. Sooo glad i didnt call an auto electrician.. Japcar was right. The inconvenience this has caused me is massive!!!! All because im a "dumb *****". Does anyone know where i could get a fuse diagram/layout because im still looking for my headlight fuses.

There's a fusebox under the bonnet, maybe in there?

I've poked around some info I have, but I'm too thick to understand how to attach the pdf so I'll just have to type it...

Problem - Only one headlamp comes on.

Solution. 1 - Bulb. 2 - H-LP LL or H-LP RL fuse. 3 - Light harness controller (with HID). 4 - Harness or connector.

Problem - Headlamp does not come on (all).

Solution. 1 - H-HP LL or H-HP RL fuse. 2 - H-HP relay. 3 - Headlamp dimmer switch assembly. 4 - Harness or connector. 5 - Integration relay (w daytime running lights).

There's more, but they mainly refer to the same stuff. So it seems you're looking for fuse H-LP LL or H-LP RL, I assume there's one for Left Lamp (LL) and one for Right Lamp (RL)?

There's three relay blocks under the bonnet. You're looking for engine room relay no 3 block. It seems to be near the front, around the top of the radiator/slam panel area, sort of a bit towards the passenger side, about level with the side of the grill. (NOT the two blocks at the passenger side strut mounting, they're blocks 1 and 2)

It has four fuses on the left column (H-LP HI LH, H-LP HI RH, H-LP LH, H-LP RH), then two relays on the next column (HORN and F-HTR), then three single relays (H-LP, DIM, FAN No 2). My guess is that the four fuses are high beam left, high beam right, dip left, dip right. Notice that they're labelled different from what I said above, hence I'm giving you as much info as possible.

Hope this helps :)

Before embarking on something like this I always take a quick snap with a camera. Glad you got it sorted.

Thanks for all coments. Camera a good idea for future ref. Just been through my headlamp fuses ( 2 of !). The fuses are fine. When i closed the bonnet. The head lights came on for a few seconds and then went off. Must be a loose connection somewhere. At least im getting closer to the source of the problem.

Sounds like a loose/poor/corroded connection somewhere. There's usually no easy solution to this type of problem, so I'd start by waggling around every wire and connection I could find and see what makes the lights flicker.

Edit...could this maybe be a faulty relay? Have a shake at them too, or even try swapping them around with each other and see if it makes any difference.
