Well, so far just the one, I bought her a 1996 Rav 4 about 6 months ago as she had always wanted one, last Monday, Hurricane weather she wrote it off! So seeing her so distressed by the loss and so pleased she was not hurt, I bought her another..... same colour (black) 4 door petrol just a year newer but a lot higher miles. Problem is this one will not stay in 5th gear so I decided to get the engine and gearbox changed over from the wreck.... just removing the old unit is proving to be a nightmare! and how you disconnect the steering joint when you can`t get your hand in there is a mystery........ Anyway, if anyone wants any bits off the wreck before they take it away feel free to get in touch, any advice on removing engine and box gratefully received.

Sounds like you're recycling a good old Toyota there, so hope you manage to complete the swap ok !

Hi Paul, thanks for the welcome, yes it was a good ol Rav and a shame the replacement is not so good on the mechanical side...

It would be nice if someone who knew what they were doing made a you tube video showing how to change an engine &box ......

Thanks for the welcome.....Please help, can anyone tell me how much and what weight of oil to put in the transfer box? The gearbox was no prob. as it has indicator but transfer box has filler and drain and thats it!
