Need Help With Car A/c Please

I have a 1999 altezza and I noticed that the ac only blows at my feet and face. When I change the dial to blow just in my fave or on the windshield it doesn't work. It just stays blowing on my feet and face. I also noticed that the rear windshield defroster doesn't work. I mean when I hit the button the light turns on but it doesn't work. I asked about that also because that switch is also on the same knob as the ac blower selector and was trying to figure out if one had to do with the other.
