Toyota Aygo 2005 After Market Stereo Losing Memory

Hello,

I am new to the forums and would like to share a problem.

I have a 56 plate Aygo and recently purchased a Pure Digital Highway DAB stereo. After feeling chuffed with myself having successfully installed the internal car DAB aerial, I was left confused with why my new radio keeps losing its memory.

After a bit of research, I discovered that I need to find a 'permanent live' wire to attach to the stereo so that it is permanently attached to the Battery thus not losing its memory every time I take the key out.

After a few google searches the most popular answer was to SWAP RED AND YELLOW WIRES AROUND. However, I do not have red and yellow to swap. I also got my multi-meter out and discovered that none of the wires on the loom is a permanent live. I assume that the stereo which came with the car had its own Battery own capacitor, which is why it could hold its memory.

This led me on to a spot of 'scotch-locking'... unsuccessfully. I tried attaching it to my hazard light's permanent feed, but that meant that if the radio was on... then so were the hazards...

Which leads me to this forum. Somebody else out there must have had a similar problem and I hope you can help me!

Thanks

Neil

HI, Welcome to the club... Enjoy :driving:

Just run in a separate lead in from the fuse box / Battery but put an inline fuse in the wiring... Simples :hokus-pokus:

Thanks. I'll give it a go hopefully on Sunday.

i'm also thinking of wiring a boot light. Would you recommend wiring one or should I just get an adhesive Battery one to save a lot of hassle?

Cheers
