Common Rail For T180 D-4D Needed

Hi,

this follows on from my previous thread (some of it lost due to the latest technical glitches it seems).

T thinks common rail (or more likely parts of it: either fuel preassure sensor or the limiter) are the cause of P0093 error and ECU taking the engine into a safe more cutting any power.

Before (if) I buy a new common rail (T only sells it as one part) I wanted to test their hypothesis (they did repalce SCV before with no effect but at my cost...) so

woudl any one have, or know how to source, a used common rail for the 2007 T180 D-Cat Avensis? (engine type 2AD-FHV)? I am based in Oxford.

I have seen one car previously that continued to suffer P0093 large fuel leak detected fault after the modified SCV kit was fitted and the ECU was updated, diagnosis kept pointing to the common rail incl pressure sensor as being faulty, however our technician was not convinced we where lucky enough to be able to swap the common rail with another car and the fault continued.

We eventually removed the injectors and had them pressure tested for leaks and although the injectors tested normal electronically on the car in our case two of the injectors had mechanical leaks due to faulty piezo electric nozzles which allowed fuel to drip from the injectors evens when they where supposedly shut.

Two new injectors cured the fault in our case.

seems we are following the same route... common rail was not the issue so now the injectors are off for testing. Fingers crossed it will do the trick as we seem to run out of options...

Either I am very unlucky or else this is an issue with old&new parts interacting in an less-than-perfect way (engine rebuilt due to head gasket going, ECU updated, new SCV fitted everything else old). In any case, any other ideas are always welcomed!

I had the same code P0093 in December 2012. The problem was with two injectors (2nd and 3rd) being leaky. Replaced with new items. No issues after that.

A week later, my injectors were sent off to a diesel company who ... replied after 3 days they can't test these...

I am rather frustrated with the saga...

could someone recommend a company who CAN test injectors from this engine and is reliable?

well I called them and several others -- it seems these are special ones and can't be tested...the

part nb is 23670-29105

any ideas before I start buying new expensive parts to experiment...???

Of course they can be tested, each injector has a value, you cannot just go replacing them at will, they are VERY expensive

I agree with everything that is being said... but the car is with T for 2 (or 3?) weeks now, no one I can find including P F Jones in Manchester is willing to test these injectors so ... if you can think of ways to convince them to do then I would love to hear them, mine have not worked so far...

I have never heard of an injector that cannot be tested, so they must just be throw away then eh? I dont think so. Something does not ring true here...............

As I mentioned we have seen this issue once before the injectors checked out as fine electronically, but we suspected that they where leaking.

I have yet to find a diesel specialist capable of carrying out a full electronic diagnosis of the piezo type injectors fitted to 180 engined Toyota's even Denso UK return the injectors to Holland and swap them on an exchange basis. The injectors can however be pressure tested to see if when deactivated they can hold fuel under pressure without leaking/dripping ( a mechanical leak ) this is what we found at fault the fuel leaked from the injectors causing the car to register an unexpected drop in common rail pressure.

Just to add we used City auto diesel in Plymouth

Change the gasket on the fuel filler cap, then reset the ecu by disconnecting the Battery neg for 20mins or so ... this MAY be the cheapest ever fix for p0093 you will ever come across.
