Satnav\stereo Unit Reset

Hi everyone,

I've had a look through the forum, but I'm confused.Basically, we have at work a few 2008 pool cars. One needed a new Battery which we replaced but afterwards the unit did nothing but display a line of Japanese text and (in English) "a program could not be read" or something very similar.

The car went to Toyota and (according to what I have been told) they have said that they cannot repair it and it will need replacing.

Do these units have a button sequence or code that needs to be entered to reset them or is it really a case of binning it?

Also, can this unit be directly replaced by another without the satnav, without altering wiring fitted in the car.

Thank you for any information,

Colin.

This is what I would try, take the disc out of the drive under the seat, disconnect the Battery neg for 20mins or so then reconnect Battery. Insert the dvd again and test, if no good can you try another disc if not then clean the laser with a decent cleaning disc device. The only other thing I can guess at (very log shot this one) is there a backup Battery in the unit under the seat, if so this may have failed.

Petd.
