What's this part called please?

It's caused my clutch to fail, it's above the clutch slave cylinder, leaking out of the back of it.

Got to order one I am guessing its a Dealer part only ggggrrrrrrrrrrrr!!

Clutch hydraulic damper or clutch hydraulic accumulator - definitely a dealer part On some cars, owners remove these devices in order to sharpen up the clutch action.

So it's not needed, I could just bin it?

The damper is designed to minimise transmission of vibrations etc from the clutch diaphragm and through the hydraulic system to the clutch pedal. I don't know which Rav models have these units and I've never removed one from a Rav. However I've seen a number of cars with these devices removed (Honda, Nissan, LR) and I've yet to hear anyone complain of increased pedal vibration. Removal of the damper eliminates a mushy clutch feel and the bite point becomes more distinct - generally owners see it very much as a positive. For many cars, theres an aftermarket stainless or brass joiner available but it would be easy to use a short length of brake pipe with appropriate fittings to join the two existing hydraulic pipes. In any event, if you don't like the mod - it's easy to reverse - just fit a new damper.
