Hi folks, Could anyone give me the heads-up to removing the alternator on my-2005 avensis 2.2 D4D engine type 2AD-FTV. The manual I have only covers the 2.0L models.

Cheers,

Wayne.

Hi Wayne,

I have a D4D Tx3 2.2 150bhp 06 plate I had to replace the Alternator it was located on the drivers side but to remove it you need the car jacked up. The drive shaft need to be removed to gain access to the Alternator hope this helps

Does anyone know if this the same with the Mark 1 diesel Avensis?...Hope it isn't!...why is it sooo difficult to remove an alt on some of these cars anyway?

thnx!

ok, just a heads up for anyone who's doing this alt removal...it is possible to remove the alt through the top instead of having to remove the driveshaft...on a Mk 1 TD engine anyway...did it yesterday but it did take a while cos the pwr steering pump & reservoir need to be moved to allow for the pwr steering hoses/pipes to be moved outta the way a bit...
