Gen3 Prius Misfire?

Was on the M27 doing 70ish when there were 3 bangs and it felt like something had hit the car on each bang. There were no warning lights coming on and the power didn't drop although I did slow down. Checked for stuff coming away from the bodywork and tyres but everything is intact.

Mystified.

Debris on the road thrown up and hitting the under side of the car?

Might have been.

The three bangs were evenly spaced which is unusual.

They also woke my passengers up!

Check if your oil change flap is still present.

Good call.

Although last time it fell off, it made a completely different noise.

What miles you at?

Mine started doing that in the summer and was so bad I called the AA out. Of course, when they got to the car it was running sweet.

The misfire got worse but on and off and then started to judder at idle. This got worse on and off - sometimes I'd go weeks without any issue. To cut a long story short, the EGR valve was so clogged full of ***** that it had to be replaced. The car then ran sweet after.

My car had a faulty ignition coil due to water ingress into the cylinder, which in turn had caused misfiring. See my post here if you wish.
