Exhaust Manifold For Aygo

Got my 120,000 mile service today and was advised I had a cracked exhaust manifold and quoted £928 by Toyota. I have searched Internet and found second hand ones under £60 has anyone had this situation before and what did they do to solve this problem?

Main dealer prices can be eye watering sometimes, lots of late Aygo being broken up for parts, young cars that have had crash damage, so lots of good parts to find at the right price.

If you are not handy with spanners, buy the parts used, then get any gaskets needed from the main dealer and get an independent garage to fit them.....or get a second opinion on the manifold crack, if it's not leaking it could go a few more years yet.

Thanks Bob as I got a fright when they quoted me such a high price as it represents more than 10%of the value of the price of a new one. I don't understand that the cost of a manifold and say the rest of the exhaust system from Toyota is almost 18% of the new price of an Aygo which doesn't make any sense.

This has happened 2 months after getting an engine fitted which seems strange as I think they may have damaged it when replacing the engine but can't prove this. Howver if the part can be sourced for under £100 second hand then it isn't such a big deal.

Looking at the new exhaust manifolds with catalytic converter complete on eBay, it's a big item, I've never done one but it could be radiator out and remove it from above or out through the underside, some other members may have done the job.
