Avensis 2004 Voice Control?

Hi,

My steering wheel has a Voice Control button on it and according to the manual, when you press the button its supposed to make a 'bleep' so you can control the Radio etc... via voice.

I have tried this but there is no 'bleep'.

Do I need to enable something somewhere or switch something else on?

Pretty sure the standard audio system doesn't have this facility. The voice control button is probably due to standardised production arrangements (ie prevents Toyota having to use another different steering wheel in the production process) and the button is there for when upgraded audio equipment is fitted.

Think the current Auris has something similar for when Touch & Go Plus is fitted - the button doesn't have a function for the standard audio equipment.

I have the button on mine and it works if the satnav screen is on. In all honesty it's not the best of setups so I rarely use it .
