Hi I bought a 53 plate celica 140 3 weeks ago with 74 k on it. Its had a new water pump fitted and thermostat recently and has started to overheat and lose of hot air. Bottom radiator hose goes cold and the expansion bottle starts to fill up. There is no milky residue in the oil or white smoke. I had it in toyota yesterday and they bled the system and said it was fixed I drove home and yes it done the same as before. Its now back in toyota and they say it had more air in the system. They also said that it could be head gasket which I dont understand because there are no tell tail signs.

Has anyone got any ideas

Thanks loads joe

The chances of it being the head gasket are remote to say the least. My money is on the radiator having a small leak due to corrosion in the bottom corner. Not a particularly big job to replace, the only tricky bit is bleeding the system of air when fresh LongLife has been added. Use a local independent though, a Toyota Dealer will just rape your wallet otherwise.

Hey thanks for the reply. I picked the car up tonite and so far so good. The radiator is about a year old on the car. The garage said it was a bad air lock in the heater matrix and that it was a bugger to get out.

Thanks again tho.
