I got my brand new T3x Avensis on March 1st this year, and fell in love with it.

I got a letter last week from Toyota, concerning a safety warning on the Steering, and could I arrange with the local dealer to have it checked out.

I telephoned my dealer, Oakmere Toyota in Northwich, and duly booked the car in for yesterday. As it happens, my brother in law is their workshop manager, so rather than me having to take the car to them, he came to me with a curtesey car for me.

Anyway, I got it bakc last night (nothing wrong with the steering) but to my amazment, I got £10 worht of fuel from the dealer as a goodwill gesture, A bottle of Bubbly from Toyota to apologise for the inconvenience, and my car was cleaned and valeted, and the Chromed Wheelnuts were replaced because apparently they were showing signs of corroding (I never noticed !) B)

Now that's what I call service, and why I will stay with Toyota.

Cheers

Andrew

just goes to show why toyota are one of the best, my first car was a nissan, then a corolla and now the avensis, I reckon the !Removed! could teach the likes of ford etc a bit about reliability, comfort and style in car manufacturing

My story is not so good, electrical warning light came on my 2001 Avensis gs last Sunday, took it to local dealer next day who asked to keep it for two hours leaving me to walk two miles home and two miles back again. I was then told that they could not find anything wrong and that they had cleared the computer causing the light to go out. If it comes on again, they said, we will need to have it in for a longer period. It did: within two miles. Today I went back to book it in and this has caused me some concern. While I was there I looked around the lot and became interested in another Avensis. I was immediately approached by a salesman who was keen to do a deal but while delivering his sales talk he told me that it could cost up to £500 to put the electrical problem right on my car.

Well this is my third Toyota but that Salesman and the Garage WKB, Toyota Waterlooville has certainly made me think twice before I buy another.

I've been quite happy with my 2002 Avensis GS took it back within 3 weeks of buying it because the Sat Nav traffic information wasn't working, they replaced the ETA box and it's working great now saved me some hours waiting in traffic. For what its worth I've had to deal with at least 3 main dealers Vauxhall, Jaguar and Honda, there all the same once you've had the keys and driven off the service changes they don't appear to be so keen when you go back with a problem. My boss changed from Jaguar to Honda it's 4 months old, this will be the 3rd DVD screen in, and their not sure if it will still work. ordering a space saver wheel taken 3 weeks and still waiting. Lucky for me I only have to drive him but its me that has to take it back.

Ok first posting from a newbie :)

I had a brake check type recall on my 2002 (old shape) 1.8 vermont and also got £10 worth a fuel and a bottle of bubbly.....

Very impressed, as this is my second Toyota, and previous to that I had a Mazda which had a wonderful knack of things dropping off it, with SIX recalls in two years and previous to that two VW's, and was treated like scum by the local dealer.

Obv its national thing that Toyota do, but it does make you feel valued
