hi folks

ive just realised my aircon radiator is wrecked after my recent mishap.

i need to take it off the aircon rad which is in front of the normal rad so i can inspect it, to ensure no damage has occured to that aswell.

as far as im aware the coolant has not leakd and will be therefore still under pressure.

without gettin a gob full of the stuff can i release the pressure safely or is this a pro only job???

If the coolant hasn't leaked the aircon should still work, UNLESS you have some other fault with it. There are mobile aircon people about these days your best off calling one out to de-gas the system. You will need a pro to re-gas anyway. Dont worry about the fins on the rad being out of shape if thats all your problem is, OK it may not look pretty and it wont be 100% efficient but if it isn't punctured its OK so why not just leave alone.

i would do im more concerned about the engine rad behind to check if thats ok and the aircon one is in the way...

maybe, i was gonna try and remove the slam panel but they are both mounted to that, even if you pop the mounts out, theres no more than half an inch between them so its near impossible to see down the gap

Hi!

1st: You car release all the coolant using the same pipes used to refill it( all you have to dis to press gently the sealer using a screw driver, but as Kelvin said, if still working dont touch it.

2nd: There must be a way to separate the air con rad from the engine rad. Lets supouse that the engine rad is leaking, do you have to open the air con circuit to take it off????:huh::huh:

So I think its matter of patience...

Hope this helps

If you decide to let the pressure go yourself I'd recommend not breathing it in. Be careful when you release pressure, if its completely intact it can be over 200 PSI. I think if it was me I'd get someone to do it for me.

its quite tricky to explain as the aircon rad has alloy solid pipes connected to it and to remove the engine rad just to look at it would really mean disconnecting the whole thing. the air con unit wont move without bein disconnected, and being as its bent anyway i may aswell get it sorted, the most important thing like i say is that i check the engine rad for damage!

its dead easy to take off, its just the fact that all the pipework is still connected and therefore the system is still charged.

may have to crack the yellow pages out!
