Replacement Headlights

It may be my imagination but I do not think my lights are as good as when I got the car 5 years ago. It is an ekderly 1.8 auto (2003) and has been totally reliable apart from a boot leak now fixed-Captain Tolleys Crack sealer on the welded seams in the gully at the sides of the hatch sorted it pretty well!

My question is whether the bulbs/units are known to deteriorate with age and what is the best to do about it. I would like to improve rather than just bring it back as it was so I am looking for advice about what bulbs to get and whether this is a simple job to fit.

Have the lenses yellowed? There are ways you can restore the plastic lenses if they have yellowed - if you use the search facility you wil be able to find some topics on this.

A fairly easy way to get more light would be be to install some brighter bulbs - eg Osram Nightbreaker Ultimates which are supposed to be both whiter and up to 110% brighter than standard halogen bulbs.. Once you determined your headlight bulb fitment (eg H4, H7, etc), have a look on Amazon.
