Auris 1.4 Petrol Stiff/hard Clutch

Hi Guys

Got a bit of a problem with my Auris, hoping you guys can help or advise.

Car details

Auris 1.4 VVTI Petrol

58/2008 plate

millage 40,000

Bought the car a few months ago and all seemed to be going well, didn’t get any of the issues owners have reported about the Auris. However a few weeks ago the clutch started to get very tight and hard to press. When you first drive the car it seems ok, but within about 10 minutes the clutch becomes hard to press, thers no noise or sounds when pressing the clutch and the gear changes are mostly smooth. There’s no slipping of the clutch either.

It’s starting to become a real pain literally in my knee specially in traffic, no problems on the motorway.

Any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Mike

The only other instance of a stiff clutch on the Auris club is the following - http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/139363-auris-16-tr-clutch-stiff-maybe/?hl=%2Bstiff+%2Bclutch

Unfortunately we didn't get updated with what the actual problem/solution was..

Most common reason for a stiff clutch pedal (hard to press) is when the pressure plate has gone. The clutch will continue to operate normal but will be uncomfortable to drive especially in traffic. If you lucky the other option is to get under the dash and have handy a can of wd-40 and try to spray a bit over the pins that the pedal is fixed, some of them with the time get dusty and makes pedal a bit harder to press once you lubricate all moving pedal fixtures try to see if helps. I've done on couple of cars and worked well.

Regards
